To bring people together from all parts of the local community in a setting where those who need a helping hand can feel safe, respected and engaged.
To offer a diverse range of farming and equine-assisted activities to enable people to have ‘hands-on’ involvement and learn new skills, take exercise and make friends.
Mares Community Care Farm is a 16 acre farm set in beautiful countryside in Old Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
We provide health and social care services for a range of vulnerable groups of people, including those with:
- mild to moderate depression
- learning disabilities and/or autism
- sensory disabilities and
- disaffected or disadvantaged young people and adults.
People participate in tasks that are meaningful and purposeful in which their input is valued. This helps to promote self-confidence and independence and to develop transferable life skills.
Mares has an inclusive approach, welcoming people from all backgrounds and with a range of skills, aspirations and abilities.
Volunteers can make a difference by sharing their skills, actively encouraging and supporting people to face new challenges
Our “access for all" policy means we provide a shared and inclusive space for other charities and community groups to benefit from the farm’s facilities.
